Dr. Jeff Is Devoted to Your Community

Community service is a cornerstone of the Just family and Dr. Just continues to carry this torch forward.

We're proud to support a wide range of projects that support our community, from helping fund a new city aquatic center to supporting our local high school’s renovation of their old field house.

Becuase we love our community so much, it struck a nerve when we heard about the issue of bullying in the Spring of 2013.

Taking on Bullying with EOB

When the issue of bullying came up in conversation in 2013, it struck a nerve with Dr. Just.
That conversation sparked the idea for EOB, a brand new short film about the problem of bullying.

It’s an issue that young people face too often.

EOB is the fictional story of Elizabeth Octavia Baxter. She is the young victim of extremely harsh bullying. EOB was filmed by a professional production company during the summer of 2013 and features over 80 local actors from the Manitowoc area.

EOB is Just Orthodontics’ outreach effort deal with this difficult problem. The film, created by Jim DeKock and Associates, is their vehicle. The film premiered on October 23 to a packed house of cast, crew and area VIPs, including Manitowoc Mayor Justin Nichols.

“We did it because we see the problem every single day. Children come in to our practice unwilling to smile because they’re embarrassed and teased daily.

We see the amazing transformation orthodontic treatment has on a child’s self-confidence and perception of themselves.

Yet, we feel helpless in addressing the real problem- the bully. Attached to the smile is a human being, still in pain.” – Dr. Just

Spreading the Message Further

Thanks to the positive reception from the community, Just Orthodontics is working on distributing the film and study guide to all the school in the Manitowoc and Sheboygan areas. Other communities in Wisconsin are also interested in using the film and study guides in their schools.

EOB is a story that kids can relate to no matter where they are. This was a goal for Dr. Jeff Just when he set out to make the film. He says, “Kids all over America face these issues and we want to help anyone who’s in crisis. We’re dedicated to making a difference within our own community and the community beyond.”

Project Linus

Project Linus is a non-profit organization that provides homemade blankets to children in need. The blankets are lovingly made by adults and children from all walks of life.

We started collecting blankets for Project Linus in the Fall of 2011 as a way to give back to our community.

We’ve partnered with other local businesses to hold collection events that we call Snuggle With a Smile.

Giving a blanket brings a smile to the person making the blanket as well as the person getting it. We hope that each child who gets a blanket will have years full of snuggling.

The support from our patients, family, and friends has been overwhelming. In the 5 years since we have started this project over 4500 blankets have been given to children in need all over the USA.

Many blankets go to our own communities. They find their way to places like the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin and Camp Odyain, a camp for children with congenital heart defects.

We love to see the look on people’s faces when they bring in the blankets they have made with love.

You never know who your blanket will go to, but you can be sure it will make someone smile.

Just Orthodontics Youth Apprenticeship

Our youth apprenticeship is an opportunity for high school juniors and seniors to try out different careers.

Students work side by side with our staff and learn all about working in orthodontics. They interact with patients and help our team create beautiful smiles.

The youth apprenticeship program opens doors from students by letting them try out a career while gaining valuable real-world experience.

We can all be inspired by the future good these students will do in our community.

Just Orthodontics Scholarship Program

Each year Just Orthodontics awards a past patient with a scholarship to help them attend a four-year university/college or technical school.

To apply, students write a 500-word essay about how their smile has changed their life.

Dr. Just and the team at Just Orthodontics believe in giving back to the community, and helping students with their education is a great way for us to do that.

With a great smile and a good education, our scholarship winners are headed for a life full of success. This year’s scholarship is worth $500.
