What makes two-phase treatment different at Just Orthodontics?
Two-phase treatment is a very specialized process that encompasses tooth straightening and physical facial changes. The major advantage of two-phase treatment is to maximize the opportunity to develop the jaw size to accommodate all permanent teeth and relate the upper and lower jaws to one another.
Phase I: Your Foundation for a Beautiful Smile
At Just Orthodontics, we take a comprehensive approach to the first phase of orthodontic treatment. Rather than using a few
braces to straighten the front teeth, we use braces on all the teeth to correct the shape and size of the jaws and set the stage for the remaining permanent teeth to come in. The first phase usually takes about 9 months. When phase one treatment is completed teeth are not in their final positions so the development of teeth will be monitored about every 6 months until you are ready to begin phase two, which is usually when all the permanent teeth have erupted
Phase II: The Finishing Touches
A combination of Damon self-ligating braces and SureSmile wires corrects the remaining crowding during a second phase that typically lasts 9-12 months after all the permanent teeth have come in.
